Sowed 4 x 10ft rows of 'snips on the plot about a month ago, just about given up on them & sowed a load more in pots, but when at the plot today, there were the originals, just about all present & correct

Two rows of early carrots also now showing after about 3 weeks.

But our biggest surprise was the brassicas - my lad sowed 2 trays each of cabbage, brussels, & cauli last Sunday. The cabbage had virtually a 100% showing by Wednesday (just 3 days), the brussels the following day (just 4 days), and several of the caulis are up today (5 days). Quick, or what?

Planted some direct in soil and can't tell what's weed now!  Don't think anything has germinated after 4 weeks.

Then sowed in a propagator and nothing!

Now trying on kitchen towels by the window sill first.

It's my first year of growing, didn't know they'd be so blimmin hard! :)

Its good to know that I'm not alone sitting staring at my parsnip patch wondering where I went wrong.

Patience is a virtue - especially when it comes to parsnips!!

I need to find a good book to while away the days waiting :)

I think many problems are caused by people sowing too early into the open ground when the soil is still too cold.

That's what I've heard recently, some people say sow in Feb, but the soil is still too cold and wet then I sowed mine a few weeks ago with radish in between and they are coming along nicely

That's a good idea, putting a radish in between.

I have stopped sowing radish as a marker because they germinated and grew so much faster than the parsnips they swamped the poor things (and then they got disturbed when I pulled the radishes out!)

My parsnip seedlings are still at the seed-leaf stage and look like many other seedlings at the moment (but weeds don't grow in straight lines!)

Will post a pic when they get their first true leaves.
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

I did mine in the polytunnel in cardboard tubes about 2 weeks ago.

Nothing showing yet but am still hopeful (although I did use still in date but old seed so it will serve me right if nothing happens)
I always find that work gets in the way of life.

How long have they been sown and was it indoors or outdoors? (in either case my "parsnip panic-ometer" stays on standby for 3 weeks after sowing!)  :)

Now that I have 4 lovely little plants germinated in paper-pots in my fathers very warm unheated greenhouse I'm going to get some more in tomorrow.

Too late? Nope.... in they go.  ;)

(When I find where I put the seeds!!!)
