Hi All
I am curious as to when I should start considering mowing my lawn as it is looking a bit messy as it didnt get its last trim prior to the winter.
Sorry if this is a repeat of previous messages but I am eager to learn

We're wondering the same thing here. The grass has been showing signs of growing for a few weeks now, so this would normally be a good indicator that you can give it a little trim to start off, but in our case here anyway the ground is still far too wet to take the mower over the grass, so we're waiting for now.....

We also need to wait a while - I had to walk across part of out lawn this morning and my feet sort of squidged. If we get the rain promised for tomorrow it will be even worse if that is possible.

Yup, bad idea to tread on either waterlogged or frozen lawns.

Mine was neither so I did (as much to hoover up a winter's worth of debris as to cut the grass.)

I cut both my lawns the other week on a high cut with a Hover Mower. It had been quite windy for a few days and thus the grass was quite dry! I also trimmed the edges and now the grass looks presentable.

well seeing as the university I go to and the hospital where I do placement have both had the gardeners out mowing and the weather has dried slightly recently I gave it a go yesterday evening while it was still sunny and boy it looks a lot better today even with all the moss in it. Although talking to a doctor about it today she made a very good point about mossy lawns why dont people like mossy lawns they are generally green and need less mowing. I think she may be onto something here...

We'll be mowing in the next day or two now, it might have happened this evening if the farmers hadn't been chasing a group of cattle round the adjoining field trying to round them up! There is a lot of moss around this year, probably due to the damp weather we've had.
