free fruit for children at Tesco
« on: April 27, 2017, 18:41 »
Much to my surprise, Tesco across the country is giving all children with shoppers who visit their stores a free piece of fruit.

On offer today were bananas, apples and pears, all a decent size and quality.

Comes to something when a four year old has to tell me about it, so thought I'd share this with you guys

Our local Tesco has been doing this for a few months now, usually apples, bananas and satsumas. My 3 yr old heads straight for the satsumas. I'm finding it's influencing where I do my shopping just because it keeps the wee one happy!
A great idea!

Having listened to an article about a scheme in Australia, where they are forming a sort of 'pop-up' food bank for left-over food in supermarkets, one particular statistic was mentioned!

That a third of all food produced in the world, goes to waste! Can't substantiate this, but that was the quote.

Our local small Tesco has had this fruit scheme going for some time now, and one gratifying sight is a tot munching on a piece of fruit rather than a packet of crisps!

My tesco has been doing this for the last year. It seems very popular. The only problem is the little blighters sometimes leaves apple cores or banana skins secreted on a shelf for you to find several hours later!

I haven't seen that in either our Superstore of any of the nearby Locals.  I shall take that up with the superstore manager - and make his day !!  Because its a really good thing to do.  Mrs Bouquet
