[Trillium]

If you're planting lily of the valley in good soil and expect it to grow, you might as well pretend you've won the lotteries. It's one of those rare things that is happiest in really poor soil with only the occasional bit of water. needless to say, mine was growing against the house and close to my mature acers. The soil was bone dry and useless, yet it thrived. So, plant it somewhere shady (another factor) give a bit of water and forget about it. It should thrive now. If only OH's were this easy at times.

Obviously mines contrariety.It`s near a hedge but because of the roots it is one bit of bed that did not get dug out or improved so is solid clay,I put the lily here in a last ditch attempt 3 years ago and the clump has got only slightly bigger,I keep hoping it will get invasive! Up until then it would look as if it had taken and be nowhere the next summer.
