Allotment Fund Raising
« on: October 24, 2021, 01:26 »
I had a fascinating email from Lily Brownjohn who is the secretary of Kenilworth Allotment Tenants Association. She explains some ways they raise money for the benefit of the association that benefits everyone. Fund raising is never easy for allotments but this shows a couple of great ideas that many could profitably copy.

My first set of allotment tools were picked up at a garage sale from someone local who was moving away and clearing things they had accumulated over the years.

I staggered home with a spade, fork, hoe, rake and a couple of other things over my shoulder.  I think I paid about £2 each and was thrilled with my bargain  :)

If you have a allotment shop on site, I can see that being a popular corner.

Yes a great idea. Not for our allotments, as they are separate to our garden club (although the club’s store is on what was once an allotment & the land is rented from the Parish council) we have just held an extremely successful plant sale that I hosted on my drive, all plants were donated, lots by club members, but some were brought along by people buying. I put up lots of posters advertising it & also advertised it widely on social media. I did buy bulbs at Spalding & sold them too.
A woman's place is in her garden.
