Been pulling uome onions which were on the top of the soil they arnt huge but noticed on 3,4 there was some white some thing like you get when you forgot one in a bag and its gone but its not mushy ideas and solutions please

Ok ive pulled up my onions all effected onions bagged , had a good look at them had one grohp of 3 and the rest spaced out there were small worms on some of them but they were all still nice and green up top .
does this mean i carnt use my plot at all next year.

Would be interested in other peoples ways of dealing as hubby said you wont be the only one , small comfort was quite upset had visions of my whole garden going limp .

I'm sure I was reading about a new idea that is being tested for use against this. Probably on this forum but my attempts to search for it have come to nowt.

Don't think its been 'proven' yet but might be worth a go. Otherwise your looking at using fresh soil / compost in a newly dug out bed and then avoiding cross contamination via boots / tools etc. personally I think I'd just grow something else for 7 years and maybe do some Spring onions in tubs at home...

I did read an artical where you use the green part of the onion , compost to a certain temp for 3 days and then put in the affected area it also said it was unproven but will just grow something else like you say baldy , next year im not growing. enything except some lettuce , i think the patch and my freezer could do with the rest , thanks all for your advice .
