Raspberry runners.

There are dozens of these, taking over, the roots wander for yards and yards, is this always a problem with raspberries? Should I grow them in a bucket like mint?

We grow ours in defined beds and spend a fair amount of time digging out the spares. I plant the runners on as spares and give them away. I have just rehomed seven buckets, another bucket full came out the plot a few days ago.

Either dig out and share, dig out and bin or get a bath and grow them in that. Shame to waste the runners though.

Thanks.
Much as I thought really. Be a bit of a struggle digging this lot up though, even though I do have a full size zinc bath doing nothing.
Food for thought though. Or berries for thought anyway.

Is is just summer rasps that spread in this way or are autumn ones just as prolific? It is my first year with mine so I was wondering what to expect next year as I have lots of gaps in my row where some of the canes did not grow

Always baffles me why the shops charge such a huge price for these and courgettes when they grow like weeds and multiply just by being looked at.

That is the correct answer :) I can't wait for mine to take over - I LOVE raspberries and they are so blooming expensive in the shops!

I recently paid 1.49 for two courgettes  bring on the raspberries and the courgettes I say.

I am mean as I rarely buy raspberries as I won't pay the cost. Fruit and veg prices are a joke, when we should all be eating more.

Off topic again, it's always me  ::)

I am the same - I hardly buy soft fruits because of the cost and I love them. I can't wait to build the fruit cafe and get things  planted this autumn!
