Ridiculously Excited
« on: May 10, 2013, 16:27 »
Just got back from the allotment, I was expecting some carnage because of all the wind but instead I was met with direct sown parsnips, swedes and spring onions all appearing, flowers on my strawberry plants plus everything in the greenhouse growing like crazy. This is my first year on the plot (we got it in Oct) and everything suddenly going great, i'm worse than a mum with a new baby my poor mother gets constant seedling updates  from me ::)

Hee hee! I know how you feel!  I sing and talk to my seedlings.  And I will confess, though I know it sounds weird, that I did kiss the first true leaf on one of my cuke plants and thanked it for not dying when I had it move it into another pot!

My mother cuts me dead when I ring to do plant updates by saying she's left the iron on, cooker on etc etc
My mother doesn't cook and she doesn't iron so I stopped calling  ::)

Good for u Vanessa! It makes all the digging, weeding and worrying worthwhile when you get strong little seedlings! Let's hope for a great season! :D

Well Beetroot Queen you can always tell us your seedling news!! Seems most of us are still getting excited when the seeds come up - I'm worrying about my beans at the moment.  And Vanessa it doesn't get any less exciting the more years you do - I love it! :D

There is nothing ridiculous about being excited by those seedlings, the forthcoming crops and the experience of eating what you have grown

Not a single thing  :D :D :D :D

It is brilliant, absolutely brilliant   :nowink:

I know just how you feel Vanessa - saw my first strawberry flower these week and phoned my hubby, mum and best friend with the good news... they only got a text when my baby was born in February

Hi Vanessa - you have every right to be excited, its a huge achievement to see things peeking through the soil.  I only got my allotment last week and I too was excited.  Been every night after work this week and off down there after shopping.  The ironing can wait ;).

LOL - I actually made my husband drive to the allotment on the way out yesterday to show him what was growing - he was mildly interested  ::) but did comment that there was a 'lot of green' there. He'll get there in the end. I am just over the moon that things are growing  :D - pleased that I am not the only one who talks to the seedlings.........
My husband's a water sign, I'm an earth sign, together we make mud :-)

My gardening diary is here - go on, have a peek , you might be able to help me!

I've been growing from seed for years but I still get the same buzz when I see the first shoots peeking through the compost. Anyone who doesn't is not functioning properly  :D

My husband says that no-one talks about vegetables except me  :D
