redex isn't what you want, it keeps it clean as its running, that's why you fill up the tank and use it, dont put it in, you wont use it long enough for it to make a difference, its an additive

Carb cleaner is no magic bullet so I wouldn't get your hopes up,
I use it mainly ,as an easy start spray to fire up an engine that has been stood or to blast through the galleries and jets after the later have been removed.
If the carb on your engine has a similar design to most Honda carbs then once the float chamber has been removed, there should be a main jet inside the centre tube and beyond it will be an emulsion tube. The tube does not always drop out so may need gentle persuasion on the end that is visible through the venturi.
Could you post a picture of the carb as the engine is only small and may be a diaphragm type so the above would not apply.
edit: I have just re read your earlier post and can see you have drained fuel from the carb so that seems to suggest that the first part here may help.

Is the spark 'constant', and not just if and when it feels like it?

If it was anything like mine, it could be the points, I thought ours didn't have them, but found it did .

They maybe dirty too.

Ours was dirty and the gap was too big.

Ok, I have taken off the air cleaner housing and sprayed some carb cleaner through the air intake.  The engine starts then dies.  I have tried about 10 times still the same.  I am going to leave it so the cleaner can soak abit.  I have attached a couple of photos of the engine with air cleaner housing off.  There is a number by the carb which is 24cARJ1.

Any help is much appreciated.

Hey scouse, did you get it working in the end? did it run for longer if you poured a dash of petrol through the air intake/carb?

Follow the cable from the switch on the handles to the engine. When you push the switch to the off position you will see a mechanism move which basically earths the engine. Disconnect the end of the cable which touches this mechanism.

This thread is a year old so I would hope the problem has been sorted by now ;) :)
If it has been fixed or not,it  does highlight a point that has been mentioned before that it would be nice if the OP of a plea for help would come back with some feedback so  others with a similar problem may find a solution .

Did you put back in the fuel you drained out?

I have the same problem every year and usually end up stripping my 45 year old machine down each year cleaning it and rebuilding it to get it running, this year even that hasnt worked as although I have it running its not starting reliably, time to swap over to the backup 'spares' machine I think, there seemed a lot of end float on the drive shaft for my liking.

Me again.  Well its back to starting up the beast and will it start na. >:( I have drained all the fuel last season, then today used clean fresh fuel.  I did get it going last year but it had to have a new spark plug and a visit to the engineers.
