Germination?
« on: June 08, 2021, 20:06 »
Okay. So this topic might have been discussed in the past, but I can't find it.

My question is: what does germination actually mean . . . to real people? I'm not interested in the science of things at this particular moment; I just want to know what it means when a seed packet says something like 12-14 days germination, for example. What visible thing should I expect to see in 12-14 days, if anything?

Ta!
I may be Welsh, but I love ewe anyway!

It just means that the seeds have started to grow :)
They've germinated when you see seed leaves above the compost, if that's where you've sown them.
If you've got them chitting on damp kitchen roll inside a polybag/container - then when the first tiny roots and shoots are visible - so you can pot them up  :)
