Title: poorly chickens? dirty vent
Post by: Mr. Clucky on April 18, 2010, 21:28
Hello, we're new to this forum and have a probably very silly question. Our chickens appear to have the runs- they have dirty feathers under their vents. we lost a chicken about thee weeks ago, we think she was egg bound as he was v. heavy and displaying all the usual forlorn fluffy signs. We have been worming the girls for the pat couple of weeks and they are not laying very much at the mo. (one egg per day, three ladies). We have also ad a nasty case of red mite about three weeks ago, but we have been tackling this with gusto Please don't think we've been neglecting our girls, they seem fine other than the grubby vents, and in my defence, we had a baby eight weeks ago today and are perpetually knackered!
Any advice from you seasoned chicken keepers would be much appreciated,

Kat, Dom and the girls!
