Is it true that all hens go through a broody stage in their life? - If so, could I rush the stage by putting eggs or leaving laid eggs in the nesting box for her to become broody? Or will she develop this herself?

not all hens get broody. If you really want a broody you would be better off getting a silkie or silkie cross they go broody at the drop of an egg usually  :D
Staffies are softer than you think.
