2 Broodys!
« on: August 10, 2007, 08:18 »
Both my big old girls have gone broody and I have some eggs coming today, they have been like it since Tuesday will they get bored waiting or still go the course when the eggs arrive?  I can't put them under till tomorrow as they need to settle for 24 hours I am told.

Why do you have to wait before putting them under the hen?

Hi

I had this problem last week, check my recent posts under Broody Chicken, there has been lots of useful advise given to me by other members.
What we did was leave a couple of eggs under the chickens then when its time to put your new eggs in you can swap them over.It worked for us.
Our broody has been totally separated from the other chickens in accomadation OH made.
Another of our hens thinks shes broody but will not stay put on the eggs for long,so by putting some eggs under your chickens you can be sure they will stay put. Hope this helps.

the eggs need to settle down after being thrown around in transit , you just put them in a cool place and the germ will settle .turn them over once in the evening if you put them in the cool in the am , place them under the bird in the morning
