My 3 girls are Light Sussex, I don't know how old they are but they have more than doubled insize since I got them.  They are still not making chicken noises but a sort of squawk probably a sign that they are not yet mature.  What size age will they be when they start to lay, if ever.  Is there any way to work out their ages.

depends if they are settled, thier diet (e.g.you give them calcium for shell production - oyster shell, etc) and of course their age.  Usually around the 20 week(ish) mark, but this is not an exact science.  just be patient.

i have some juvenile LS birds at the mo.  will let you know when they lay. I know the exact age because I hatched them.

They are so greedy they eat everything and free range in the garden.  They are all legs at the moment, could I have been sold boys I ask they make some wierd noises neither cluck nor doodle!!  Must just be growing into themselves.  Act  like Teenage yobs at the moment.

i find i think mine are cocks one week, then hens the next.  They keep changing all the time.  wait for a crow or an egg
