Title: Sunflower seeds

I’ve got loads of sunflower seeds in my parrot food will they grow if I plant them out?

Good morning mdjlucan, given the correct soil temperature, the correct light levels and the proper watering set-up, I think you have a very good chance of a fine show.

I don't suppose you have a picture of the plant flowering ?  Good luck.

They probably will and will just be a crop variety, so won’t grow super tall, but if it works it will still be lots of flowers for free  :)

I've looked online and cant seem to get a definitive answer about sunflowers, does it matter which way you plant the seeds? Pointy end in compost first or round end? Or flat or on their side? Or doesnt it matter? I was going to sow my giant ones indoors in the next week

I've never heard anyone say anything definitive about this. I just bung them in.

you could try chitting seeds first this would hopefully confirm they are viable seeds [sprout facing down in soil] we put all larger type seeds in takeaway tubs with damp tissue somewhere warm to prechitt. good luck.
