DD's Carrots
« on: June 21, 2009, 14:32 »
I've just seen DD's blog and those carrots look lovely DD.

A real fathers day treat for you.

Can I ask when they were sown and what variety e.t.c ? Where they given special care such as early sowing and using fleece ?

And if anyone hasn't seen them they are worth a look !

Thanks

These...

http://www.thompson-morgan.com/seeds1/product/218/1.html

Sown on 7th April & popped through on the 22nd.

The special care is make a drill, throw seed in, cover, go away & do something else.

Notice they've come up, hoe & sling some enviromesh over them.

To save you looking up, here they are...

Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Look nice - do they taste like what they're supposed to?

Did we ever reach a conclusion about scaffold netting and carrot root fly.

Lovely!

Now grow one as big as your snip  ;)

Great looking carrots there, I'm trying to grow some myself, how did you know they were ready to pull. I must say the bushy tops on yours look very green, is that an indication that they're ready?

I pulled my first carrots of the year today. Sadly they weren't as big as I'd hoped and didn't taste as spectacular as I'd hoped either but you can't have it all.

Here's a picture anyway. :D
