Shallots

Hi

I've found the recipe here for pickling shallots and I just have a couple of questions

1) how long after lifting can/should I pickle them

2) will jars be sterile enough going through the hot wash on the dishwasher or should I put them in the oven??

Can I just say I love this entire site every question I have there is somewhere to ask it :D

As soon as you want - although I tend to leave them until the beginning of October and then they're just about right for Christmas.

It depends on just how hot the hot wash is but yes you can. It is, however, rather energy inefficient.
