Title: Tomato Moth caterpillar
Post by: R@bbit on August 22, 2014, 07:21
Sadly, out of focus, but just to say my larger tomatoes - Black Russian, Green Zebra and Striped Stuffer were all devoured by the Tomato Moth caterpillar in a mini-poly greenhouse, but alongside were the cherry tomatoes Gardeners Delight, Sweet Olive and a Tigrella Mr Stripy which were left completely untouched.

Those larger toms which I planted out on the allotment were not attacked - possibly not yet discovered. they seem to have missed the blight and seem promising if they ripen before the end of autumn.

I have found this moth's caterpillars thrive in nice warm environments and are not so keen on the outside world  :nowink:

They don't much like being squashed either Mwah ha ha  ::)

I found 3 today, cunningly disguised by stretching themselves along the stem of the truss. Crafty little beggars  :nowink:
