Lethal tomatoes!

I had a glut of cherry tomatoes and found a recipe for vodka soaked chilli tomatoes - very lethal, I made it a couple of weeks ago and they really need eating now as they're getting too strong!  I think I'll use the remaining liquid as a blooming Mary base.

Am still trying to work out whether the original recipe was for a drink or a nibble?

Can you please enlighten me?

PS: If you have too many blooming mary's - send them my way.

(Courtesty of Anthony Worrell Thompson on the BBC site)

Ingredients
1 punnet cherry tomatoes
¼ pint/150ml chilli-flavoured vodka
½ lemon, juice of
1 tbsp dry sherry
6 drops Tabasco sauce
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
celery salt, to taste

Method
1. Prick the tomatoes all over with a cocktail stick. Soak the tomatoes in a mixture of the rest of the ingredients.
2. Chill until ready to eat. When eating, sprinkle with celery salt. The remaining liquid can be drunk as shots - or used as a base for an excellent blooming Mary.

I didn't have the sherry or tabasco but can't see that they'd be any better with them, but I added extra Worcestershire sauce.  I put the celery salt in the mixture, and I just bunged in 1/2 a teaspoon of chilli flakes, and that was more than enough heat!  I also recommend that, unlike me, you don't keep them in the fridge for 2 weeks, as honestly they're too strong now.

They are fun to give out to your friends, I just said fancy trying one of my allotment tomatoes, and then watched their faces!  Wonder if I can put them in my cheese sandwiches for work, it sure would make the day go quicker LOL.
