I was recently working at a property that had a lot of autumn bliss rasberries growing (the owner grew enough to sell to a local hotel as well as feed the household)
He said i should cut my rasps (aut bliss)down to grownd level at the end of October.
However the top man at our allotment said the end of February is the best time............. this was AFTER i cut mine down today .
Should i be concerned?

Anytime after ceasing fruiting & before shooting again is OK.

February 1st is the traditional day down here.

I asked the old boy who told me that what I should do if it's raining on that day and he said "put your rain coat on"

I do mine when I have chance.  That's the best time.

I had a good crop this year and thought i had just wrecked next years chances.

My grandather never worked to precise dates, moon phases etc. & he was a professional gardener, just when he felt the time was right to do it.

Just as well, as he'd be doing everything 2 months too soon nowdays if he did.
