No flowers
« on: June 24, 2013, 11:56 »
As some of you may know I planted my potatoes in April as I was going away for 3 months. The plants all look exceptionally healthy with lots of growth but there are no signs of any flowers including my LadyC. Is this unusual?

Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

You learn something everyday :)

This is the 3rd year that I have grown them and it will be the first time that they haven’t flowered.

Dumb question coming. How do I know when they are ready then?

i have no flowers on yukon gold either.

Have a furtle around the roots and see if they are the size you want them, if not cover up again for them to carry on growing ;)

Difficult to do as they are in upright containers and there is no furtling space. Are there any other clues that may help? If I waited until the foliage died down a bit would that be too late?

You would get the best crop that way, but little of the new potato taste, if that's what you are growing them for?

Can you not tip one on it's side and slide it out a bit to see what's going on?
