Forde Abbey, Somerset
« on: June 12, 2013, 08:51 »
Just to say, if you are venturing down to this part of the world, it is really worth venturing a little off the beaten track to visit Forde Abbey- one of my favourite places to visit. Alan T described it as one of the best gardens in the Southwest, and the house is very interesting too if you are a history fan. At this time of year the blue poppies should be out, they are just beautiful . They have a walled veggie garden  -plus plants and gift shop of course. All still owned and run by a family rather than the NT or something.

Thanks for that. :)

Here is a link with more information and I'll move this post to the places to visit area for safekeeping.

Thanks Oddpod, we go up and down the A358 and A303 every month and didn't know about this place.  :D

From East Devon "this part of the world"...

But is it this one....

Here is a link with more information.

... or this one?

http://www.fordeabbey.co.uk/

I plumped for the first link, the second link coming up higher on a search, but now I'm not sure again.  ???

Both look well worth a visit. :D

Perhaps oddpod can confirm. :)

Edit to correct spelling of OP's name.

The somerset one (ie your first link) is my bet.
Dorset is further east again. East Devon would meet Somerset ;)

Oops, yes, sorry peeps I should have posted the link. It is the one near Chard, as arugula rightly guessed.
