Winter Cauliflower
« on: August 07, 2012, 20:44 »
Hi folks
Starting to think about how I can populate my plot over winter and I am interested in putting in some winter caulis.  Happy with my summer ones but not sure how the winter calendar works for these.  Do I need to sow seed now - I am looking to start them off in a seed tray, prick them out to modules/pots then transplant when larger.  Will this work and what are the timings please?

So called winter caulis, such as Winter Walcheren, stand through the winter and head up Aprilish, but you have to sow them in May the year before, so they take up a lot of room, for a long time.

You'd have to buy plants if you wanted some for this winter.

Many thanks MoS - it looks like I may have missed the boat.  It is also quite a "ground committment" for an extended period so may not bother.  At least I now have the facts.
