Her legacy

Ok I'm currently henless so now I sparrow watch and it's quite frantic on the nest building front here now.  I saved some of henny hens donwny moulted feathers from last year (don't know why)and I put a handful out on the lawn.  Swooped on before I could get back in the house they grab them several at a time so a beakful is bigger than the bird itself.  Henny's legacy goes on and there are some snug downlined nests around here now.  Wish I'd thought of it earlier.
One grandma and 4 baby Pekins.

That is a lovely way to remember your hen. Hopefully you will get more soon. Our ducks shed lots of feathers every time they flap their wings and the local birds collect them on a regular basis.  :)

That is a great idea and tribute to henny hen.  I will put some of my chicks feathers out for our local birds.  I have been watching a couple of long tailed tits having a recky this morning.

What breed did you decide on then?  I hope the weather improves as they may still need to be under heat depending on how they have been raised.

Still don't know what breed.....thought Lavendar Pekin and Light Sussex bantam... but bantams prone to broodiness - except Plymouth Bantam.  Will visit local breeders and see if I fall in love or not.  Hey - breeder might be good looking! Beautiful and friendly is what I hope for (hen not breeder).
