My terraces face east and could do with some climbing plant to hide the concrete post the timber does not need hiding. Any ideas? Obviously don't want them to get out of control so something that does not grow to fast or to high. Keep maintance low! Thank you for your time. E1

Clematis?
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...

Argh forgot that I would like it to cover the posts all year round but I don't want anything that is going to spread all over the place. Some of these ivy's seem tobe able to travel underneath concrete 10 or more yards. So any names of plants? Thanks

That's why I didn't suggest any of the more vigorous  plants - the climbing hydrangea is fairly tameable, but the ivy and creeper are thugs!

There's a variegated plant I can't think of the name of (helpful I know!) which is a bit like euonymus but I don't know whether you can get a climbing variety - I have it in my garden.  Some of the vincas (periwinkle) are relatively well behaved, can't remember if it's the lesser or the greater though!

Yorkie - the Vincas are as invasive as Ivy  :nowink:...........I get the roots through from next door's plant that is 8ft away!

Echo - You may be better off planting something bushy a like winter jasmin, or cotoneaster that you can trim back to the area you want covered.

Our climbing hydrangea is like a very small kitten. :)
