Live and learn...... Dead Dahlia's
« on: May 22, 2013, 21:13 »
Evening all!

I have spent the last 3 months raising dahlias from seed. I was so proud of them and planted all 8 plants in to the ground last evening about this time.

I got home from work to nothing, not a sausage!

I thought at first it must of been some sort of elaborate wind up my wife was playing on me, until I looked really closly and just about saw what was left of the crown of the plant and all of the foliage was gone on all 8!!!!.

I hadn't seen a slug all year and then wham bam !

Game over
When weeding, the best way to know if its a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull it.

If it comes out easy, it was a valuable plant !

Grrr, I must admit I put a sprinkle of the blue pellets of death down next to each of my plants I put out.  Sorry to hear of your loss......

How frustrating for you. What a shame  :(
My husband's a water sign, I'm an earth sign, together we make mud :-)
