i live in the midlands an d am wanting to make a small peice of our allotment a grassed area for the kids sit why we are working the plot  ::) do you think i'll get away with grass seeding an area and putting a white fleece cover over on cold nights ?

Yes, you could do that as long as it's not against your particular tenancy rules.

Use a blend with ryegrass in as it's more hardwearing.  I'd leave it a few weeks before thinking about sowing the seed unless your ground has dried out a lot.  Then they'll need to keep off it until it is properly established - some months.

You won't need the fleece at night though - grass is hardy - unless you were trying to get it sowed sooner and be kind to it overnight?  I would rather delay sowing; fleece doesn't make that much difference to the temps required for germination.
