Title: The weather is having an effect....
Post by: Aidy on October 05, 2017, 17:37
In more ways than one.

Sat at work here and I am thinkng to myself, I have had to cancel some fishing trips due too strong winds.

Another of my hobbies, astronomy has been limited due to cloud, spring wasnt too bad but then July and August was pretty much nil. Just looking at the very long range forcast and not a lot of oppertunities as yet.

On the growing side it has been a little hit n miss and late.

Is it time to move to pastures new?

The weather has always been very variable.
Where do you think is unaffected, the moon, mars?  :D

Part of the problem is the weather hasn't been variable, for the last year we have AGAIN had long periods of stagnation of one type of weather. There were months of stagnant dry mild weather from last autumn until mid summer, then it flipped into autumn after mid July with persistent unsettled gloom. The crops get stressed with this and bolting occurs. These extended periods of locked-in weather patterns seem to be happening more often these days.

we had a conversation last year when visiting me cuz's in Canada, when I checked my weather data at home and compared it to a local airport we laughed.
Hottest day in Kitchener... 42c Blackpool 35c
Coldest day In Kitchener...-21c  Blackpool -5c  ;)

Average rainfall for the year was actually much Lower in Blackpool than Kitchener    so although we enjoyed stonking hot weather when we was there, on average I prefer Blackpool

So looks like I aint moving afterall

Well yes, you are comparing a continental climate to a maritime climate. The former has more extremes of temperature over the year. I think I would like a climate like Canada, you get proper seasons instead of the eight months of autumn you get in the UK.
