Two roosters in need of a good home - trade
« on: May 17, 2008, 17:23 »
Two Japanese Silkie Bantams -roosters are now in need of a home.

Ryukku- 7 month black rooster, very sweet natured, lovely voice. Has a distinctive interest in the ladies and treats them a lot differently and a lot more gently in comparrsion with his counter-part Russel.
Has been treated for feather mites and vacinated.
Very healthy, like his counter-part, and is very handsome -email me for photos. Has the standard five toes.

Russel- 7 month white rooster, very sweet natured -if not a little over protective of his flock from animals such as rabbits(!). A not so impressive crow, however, a much more noticable range of vocal sounds. Perfectly formed wattle with lovely electric blue ear-lobes, and the standard five toes.
Is interested in the females, and enjoys putting them in their place with the rather 'cave man' style nip on the side he often gives my poulets and hen.
Has been treated for feather mites and vacinated.

I would like for both these roosters to stay together. I would be interested in trading them in for three hens.
Both the roosters are very nice, meet standard requirements -and are therefore good for breeding. I bought them from a breeder, so their line is pure, and both deserve a good home.

I will accept three hens, or three female poulets.
Please PM me for more information.
This would have to be a pick up arrangement.

Still looking for a home for these two.

-A lot of people have tried to make out that my hasty wish to trade them is because they are sick or defective in some form or fashion.
This is a lie.
We bought them at a young age, when both; they were small, and I was small in knowledge of chickens.
Only after having gone to wales and back to get the chickens did we later realise we had got two males.
Oh dear.
So our only reason to try and rid ourselves of these two lovely, sweet, and in my opinion handsome couple, is only because of their noise.

GCSE exams are when I need sleep the most.
I can tell you how unimpressed I was to be awoken by crowing on my day off. 6am- I stormed down stairs, swung open the coop door, and put them in a carrying crate, locked them in the shed with a blanket over them.
I had a four hour sleep, they had a four hour think about how rude they were.

I never intended to keep roosters, and now hope someone is willing to have them.
Thank you for reading, I hope you wish to have these two.
Accepting help related to chickens!

Just really struggling to find a home for them, and of course my only other option is to put them to the chop -which I would really much like to avoid.

It is hard to find cockerels good homes. Sometimes it is easier to find one or two hens to go with them.
I would normally pair a cockerel with a hen or two and only charge for the hens, so the cockerel is free.
I do have a lot of cockerels though! I get too attached!
Are yours loud? and where are you based roughly?

Not because i want them but because you put two young roosters in a garage until 10AM FFS whilst you went back to bed for a nap! ! ! ! ! Even if they didn't crow and were hens they should be let well before then so maybe chickens are not the best pet for you!

Don't you have somewhere that they could live that's not where you live, like on an allotment, perhaps?

i was thinking the same to be honest
my comment about not wanting them as i had a new rooster today was just to say i would have them but not enough hens to go round 4 roosters lol. think i phrased it wrong.

How rude that some people believe they can tell me how to care for my animals. Even more so when they phrase it in a way that makes me seem cruel.
Look, I really need to trade these two asap, they are well cared for. My 'nap' is important seeing as I work on weekends and have exams at the moment. Fair enough, I can't justify keeping them like that, but it's the only way to make sure they go back to sleep.
'Chickens not the pet for me' wrong. 'Roosters not the gender of chickens for me' right.
I challenge all of those who dare to say I don't take care of my animals.

They are quite loud, not too much so, but due to the way our house is situated we have four houses against ours, so the people living about us hear from them often.
They are getting quite annoyed with it, so of course, i'm desperate to get them away.
