I didn't realise it was my birthday!
« on: August 16, 2008, 09:20 »
Just had a leaflet from the Charnwood Borough Council & they are running a trial re-cycling scheme in our area to which I've been invited to take part.

I can have a FREE composter (Dalek), Bokashi Bin, Wormery & Green Cone!

Also the order form says I can have more than one!

I'm taking orders now - but do you think they'd be suspicious if I asked for a couple of hundred?
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Just to prove I'm not dreaming.....

Why not send this to your council? If Charnwood can, any others can.

(Didn't mean that Charnwood - only a joke honest. Can I still have my freebies?)

I can have a FREE composter (Dalek), Bokashi Bin, Wormery & Green Cone!

How can they afford  to give away all of that.  I wonder how many are invited ?

Did you register with anything recently DD? Or fill in a questionare or something
I ask because Id like to email this to my council to see if they have any offers they are keeping under their hat.  I got a free dalek bin ages ago, so maybe they will expand their offers? Heres hoping :-)

I don't really know. All they say is that's it's a trial area, I don't know how large.

Knowing the people around our "estate" out of 5 roads, 2 or 3 of us grow stuff at home. I assume they are the ones that would take up the offer. It's a strange mix of new couples at work all the time, or retired people who can only just look after what they've got.

IF it's this area that's been targeted, then at best if it stirs a couple of others up, probably no more than 5 will take it up.

HOWEVER - this intrepid reporter hopes to go to the lauch & will report back.

You heard it all here first folks!

I thought i would check out my local council, no freebies, but if you look on the site below

Linky woo

you can see how much a composter cost in your area, i can get a 220L darlek for £14, which seems ok to me!

Oh they'll forget about it.

Most councils provide cheap stuff like compost bins, but they never shout about it, but the link kindly provided proves that you don't need to pay rip off prices from DIY stores.

Next problem - how do I hide 5 cheap council bins when they deliver my free one? They say they would like to monitor this trial.

On the order form DD when it says you can order more than one I would take that to mean you can order more than one item ie a wormery and a dalek rather than 25 wormeries. I do usually read the wrong meaning into things though.  :)  :)

It all looks very good but why does it say on the form "£15 if paid by direct debit".  Presumably there is a charge as if there wasn't one you wouldn't need to pay by direct debit.  As the saying goes "is it me" or am I just too tired by getting up early to watch the sailing in the Olympics?  I tried looking at the council web site on the Switch Trial, the web page "is under construction" but they would like you to "rate the information/service"!  Just had a thought, presumably it is the brown bin that costs £15 if you pay by direct debit, but how much does it cost if you don't pay by direct debit, do they take cash :?:
