Hi everyone im hoping to get some asparagus crowns next week is it to late to put them in the ground if to late i will get some next year

You can still plant them out. It's just that you won't get a crop for 3 years even if you planted them earlier. So, best to start asap.

At this time of year you'll want to look over the new crowns so that they still seem healthy and not ratty from long storage.

I planted a dozen crowns 4 weeks ago and I've got 10 spears come up. When you, and the books,  say 3 years is next year the 1st year, or this year? Will I have to wait until 2015? I don't mind, I'm in it for the long haul, would just like to know.
