Yesterday,there were 3 beautiful eggs in the nest boxes. Later in the day OH annouces that there is another softy which he cleared up. Ten minutes later I went out and there was another softy (there have now been one soft shell, and 4 just yolks/ seperate yolk and whites been laid since friday). So we had 5 ish eggs from 4 girls yesterday. OH seems to think that I should not let them roam about today and see if who ever the softy producer is manages to sort themselves out. The culprit, is one of two girls, not sure which one and they both seem to be well so I'm hoping this is just a start her egg laying blip.

We've had the girls for 5 weeks now and we're loving them to bits. They now respond to me calling 'come on girls' to make them go back to the run.

The first few weeks of laying they can pop out a strange assortment
So long as they have access to oyster shell and they are eating their pellets

Cut back on any treats that sometimes helps

Thank you. They have a dish with grit and oyster shell in and love their pellets. Do you think I should keep them in or let them have a roam around?

there shouldn't be a problem with them roaming around - they'll pick up grit from the oil and that will help them digest the other food that they've got - all of which helps to contribute to lovely eggs.
