Ive got 22 eggs in an incubator and theve been in for 5 days now,


whats the earliest I can candle them and,

one has a hairline crack in the shell (just noticed for the first time this morning) should I take it our stright away or try candeling it?

Hi you can candel them now you should see some veins but if you dont dont throw them away just yet a hairline crack shouldnt hert the embro as the membrain protects the inside of the shell, one of the breeders will be along shortley who will give you the best advice that they lerned through experience  good look with your hatch

Don't be tempted to candle too often, it really can make a difference to the end result.  Tying your hands together behind your back will help with this because it's sooo tempting!    And treat them gently with nice clean hands, no fast twisting and turning.

I agree with Tony - I'd leave in the one with the crack for the time being.  I had one with a small hole in the shell (the membrane was intact) that I almost didn't include but it turned out to be one of the few that did hatch.

candelled them last night (day 10)

threw the cracked one out there was nothing inside anway when candelled.

after that, two look infertile, and rest are looking good at this stage with the exception of two others, when candelled, you can make out an air sack but nothing else, the whole shell seems to thick to let ligh through. Any thoughts?
