Johnsons Mite Spray & Egg Withdrawal
« on: July 31, 2009, 20:34 »
It's been mentioned before, but with no definitive answer  :(

Would there be egg withdrawal needed with using the Johnsons Mite and Lice Spray. It's main ingrediant is Pyrethrum which is from the chrysanthemum flower. Me and my OH have googled  but still aren't sure. So they've had another dusting of Vim, Barrier Louse Powder until I'm sure.
8 chickens, 5 cats, 2 guinea pigs and 1 other half.

I use that alot when I need to!!!!  Never even thought about egg withdrawal.  I don't think you need to as it's not going in, internally!!!!

I'm sure someone will on here who has much more experience
I know Vember uses it :nowink:

Thanks!  :D

Pyrethrum is a natural product, so I would have thought it would be okay. I suppose if the hens were to be eaten then it would be a problem, but mine will always be pets, so thats ok.

Lice are a devil to get rid of  >:( Blumming things.

Nicky (aka nzdunn), I have guinea pigs, just the two! Most I had in one go was seven. Adorable aren't they. I've kept guinea pigs for fifteen years.

I never withdraw eggs when I've used Jonhstons spray and I'm ok .........................................................

I think

Might be best if selling them to folks to cover your backs with a 7 day withdrawl which would then turn in to two wks if you need the second spray to kill any new borns :D
