Title: Shamo Help
Post by: uktitan on July 12, 2012, 16:22
Hello,

I got some Shamo at day old, and was told they were Both Female O shamo. Well they are both now 10 weeks and not knowing much about them and how fast they grow and feather out compared to Normal chickens i thought i would come to more knowledgeable people.

i'll post some pics in the hope that someone will know, Which one is a female..I hope Both are, but im kinda thinking one of them is a lil fella.

Going by the feathering I would guess that they are both girls but I have not seen too many shamos close up at that age - most that I have seen have been at shows.

The only thing with no.1 is the legs are quite thick, its face looks alot redder compared to no.2 & the samo cocks have more widespread red flesh on their face (unless its the pic?).

And it appears to be gold lacing/? start of gold sickle feathers on wing area. Are they red/blacks?

I'm still 50/50 though.

No number 1's face IS that red its not just the Pic lol, and yes the legs are kinda chunky. where as shamo 2's legs are noticeable thinner. Also shamo 1's comb has started to raise and it reddened, where as shamo 2's comb is pinky and well, she(i hope) doesn't have a comb yet.

I know they're a different breed but my two light Sussex chicks looked very different as they grew. One developed a pronounced darker comb and wattles, very chunky legs and longer neck compared to the other but both turned out to be girls. So fingers crossed.......
