Hi Murphs

Welcome to the Hen House :)

How old are they? Sometimes this happens when they are first coming into lay :)
Have they got access to grit & oyster shell?

So long as the hens are running about as they should then I think they'll be fine :)
Some eggs are more tricky than others to push out :D

Sarah :)

Is it a smear of blood or speckles.

Red mite can cause speckles I believe.

Hi - I had a similar experience with one hen this week.  Significant amount of blood on egg on Saturday.  Smallest amount on Sunday.  I guess she is getting better.  The blood was the only sign that the chicken was ill in any way.
