Title: Shrubs???
Post by: Jake on June 07, 2006, 07:27
I went to the garden centre yesterday on my wifes instruction, to get some shrubs as a present for a friend.

It occured to me once I got there that I don't know what a shrub is, I couldn't see anything labeled 'shrubs' so I asked a young member of staff what a shrub was and remarked that they obviously don't label things as 'shrubs'

He said, "thats 'cause they're not called shrubs".

So, whats a shrub?

Try asking for bushes :)

A woody plant of relatively low height, having several stems arising from the base and lacking a single trunk; a bush
Middle English schrubbe, from Old English scrybb - dictionary.com

You didn't think I was clever, did you?

My favourite word is 'fettle' - I even had a mad idea of starting a business called Ye Olde Computer Fettlers - told you it was a mad idea :)
