all laying Grannie
« on: August 10, 2011, 22:33 »
Pleased to say Grannie Annie that all my new hens are now laying  :D.  3 of them started laying only a few days after picking them up from you and 2 a week later and the last one of the six started laying yesterday.  They have settled in really well with the others and I will get some photos sorted out and post soon.  Hope you got all the others sold and sorted.

Hi Sue Anne!   Oooh that's great!  Yes, nearly all gone.  only 2 white ones left and 3 brown ones.  The first 22 black ones gone, and 15 of the second hatch now gone, so only 5 of them left, and nearly 30 of the 3 youngest hatches still here.

One couple popped round just over a week ago to ask if they were doing something wrong as they bought 3 from us at about 8 weeks old, and they still not laying!  Hope they are now!

I think I need to get some Grannie Annie chickens!  Three of my six pullets started laying after the shortest day on 22 June (yes we read our calendars upside down over here).  Then they all stopped again and only one has re-started!  :(  Silly chooks!  :tongue2:

Will someone please send me a dozen eggs a week until mine start laying again?

Well I'm almost desperate enough to buy supermarket eggs - and that's pretty desperate.  ::)

You're right about the postage cost though.  And our customs people would have a few good breakfasts after they confiscated them.  So maybe not very practical.  But I'm dying for a poached egg for my breakfast!  :(  Maybe you could just send my girls an email and tell them to get laying!
