Growing a climbing French bean in a pot.
« on: April 15, 2019, 14:40 »
Can I grow a climbing French bean in a pot and if so, what size and depth would you recommend? I'm planning on placing the pot onto the g-house floor then putting my mini g-house over it (without its cover) plus a couple of inserted canes to support the growth.
I work very hard so don't expect me to think as well.

If the bean is going to stay in the pot, then I'd say the bigger the better, flower bucket size, maybe -  I think you'd need at least a couple of plants to get any kind of harvest, though...

Before we had a plot, I grew 3 climbing french beans in a  12 ins pot, up three  6 foot canes tied at the top. Worked just fine  :D

Of course you can! We often plant a couple of beans by the shrubbery near the front door, as the flowers of some of them are just lovely!

10" pots here!

That's sorted then! I usually just grow one in my g-house bed and get a lot of lovely beans so if I have the space I'll do that again using a spare gro-bag pot to plant it in, or use a 12" pot sat on the floor.
