Post by: Woodhousemoor on April 25, 2011, 19:59
A few days ago a friend gave be a Cold Frame (I think) it's a aluminium and glass box with 2 lids that can be lifted. My question is what can I use if for??? and where should I place it on the plot????? thanks yet again.

Very handy for hardening tender plants off,lid of on nice warm days and back on at cooler times, also handy for sowing and growing things like carrots and lettuce in before the outside soil temp is high enough for germination.
Quite a handy bit of kit really.

It would be best where it is not too sunny. One problem with cold frames is that they can get too hot in the Summer even with the lids propped open and tender young plants will cook.
