Silverskin onion seed germination
« on: April 01, 2018, 15:31 »
I planted 5-6 seeds in each of 40 modules in a tray, placed in a propagator on a windowsill. After 21 days I have one seed germinated in one module. Does anyone know if these seeds are just a bit slow to get going?
Thanks in advance.

I have only ever grown them sown directly into the soil. When starting off indoors a temperature of 10C - 15C  is advised (depends who you read!). It is quite possible that they have got too warm in a propagator. Some seeds don't like it hot!
Did it really tell you to do THAT on the packet?

Thanks for your reply. I put them in an unheated bedroom so hoped it would be cool enough. I will give them another week then try again :)
