Having had a disastrous season to date on the allotment can anybody suggest any seeds I could be planting now to harvest either later on this year or early next year

I know mine has been rubbish too. Have just planted pak choi and daikon radish, this is the right time for them, also more french beans, runner beans (hoping summer will go on to October once it gets going), lettuce, forcing carrots (Some hope, see my question today) and spring cabbage.

Thanks, thought it would be too late for runner beans and spring greens will give them a go

I'm considering rice with all this rain :tongue2:
Organic where possible, unless it involves the snails that now seem to be eating the slug pellets for fun

It probably is too late for runner beans but I don't care, for the sake of a few seeds why not try? Might be a bit late for parsnips though.

Weather doesn't seem to have stopped nettle production, long range forecast from met says much of the same to end of July, Ho,Hum, for once I hope they get it wrong as long as the alternative isn't snow

I just put some pea seeds in last week and they have started to sprout now. Not sure if I am too late but gonna give them some TLC and see what happens.

All my original peas have given up the will to live for some reason but my mange tout are going great guns.
Good beer, good BBQ and good friends.

You could try some swede or turnip seeds. They are usually late developers.
I'm hoping to put some spring cabbage seed in soon, if it ever dries up a bit.

Sow anything you want. With our recent mild winters the chances are no real frosts until well into November. If sowing tender crops then the use of "fleece" later in the season should help.
Ah well ! There is always next year !

I've just planted some more peas a week ago, carrots, spinach (my last lot of spinach bolted, mind you the chickens still liked it) and beetroot ; they've all got two chances
