Is it possible?
I couldn't sow broad beans in a bed at the lottie as the ground was too wet, so I sowed them in root trainers. The mild weather has meant they have germinated and are about 2-3" tall. If I plant them out in the (unheated) greenhouse border will they produce bean pods?
Any advice gratefully accepted.

They will be just fine, and shelter from cold winds will help them along nicely.

Flowers will arrive eventually, and as they are partially self pollinating, pods will form. However, a little bit of help from any early bees will boost the number of seeds per pod, as would help from you will with a little soft paintbrush

Tried them in the polytunnel for a couple of years.
Hand pollinated - there were on flower before there were many bees around.
Found that they grew too tall with only pods at the top of the stems. Guess it was too hot. Gave up after two attempts.

I like Fen tried this not any good for me afraid to say grew very tall lots of leaf
very few pods and not big ones at that NOW PEAS WERE A SUCCESS

Seems like it would be better to let them fend for themselves outside.

I autumn sow Witkiem Manita broad beans. In pots indoors until established then outside in a cloche. Works for me - I get early beans. I will try the peas next. I usually sow Early Onward peas.

I grow a lot of broad beans, but have never had a good crop from the greenhouse, and don't bother that way anymore. No point really, given that I easily over-Winter them outside, or plant out new in February.
I do grow a small amount of early peas in the greenhouse, but that's because it is not possible at all outside in February.
I've never known an indoor legume crop be anything like the quality of an outside crop.

after a lot of thought, I've got the broad beans in a cold frame awaiting planting out.
The greenhouse seems to be full of other stuff, but thanks for all the replies.
