:shock:  the last 2 times I have emptied out my worm "wee" there have been numerous tiny creatures (not moving) in the liquid. They resemble maggots, only not as fat. What are they and is it safe to dilute and use in the normal way? I have had a plague of small flies after leaving the lid off by mistake, sprayed with permethrin which seems to have killed off flies, but worms are OK

Picture needed but probably not possible.  Can mosquitoes/midges get in to where the liquid collects.

Thanks Aunt Sally, sorry reply is late but had to rush DS2 off to emergency drs with ventolin overdose, but he's OK now - very scary!
Not sure they'd show up in photo but I cantry - do I need any fancy programmes to upload them as not done this before?

They're probably nematodes, janeymiddlewife.
You can find them in there even if you don't leave the lid off.
A good way to prevent it is to keep the surface covered with damp newspaper.
Oh, they're harmless btw, and an indication that your wormery is healthy (or they wouldn't be there)
