Hi HF,

Thanks for the info. As I get to know more about chickens i've realise their diversity, so I am amazed that you can identify them.

Another fine day for drinking French wine

They also look like they hold their tails differently to a Light Sussex.  I wonder what they are crossed with?  Pretty birds anyway, and hopefully they will lay well for you.

Hi again,
Just to confuse the issue I live in France so they could have been crossed with anything. But as you say they are nice looking birds, but I do await their first egg. ;)

I have had 2 chooks for about 18 months. Last wednesday bought 2 more chooks. Have had the usual world war 3 for about 1 day, ;) still a bit of argy bargy going on but nothing too serious. What I would like to know is what type are they?

Very pretty birds the black feathers on their necks they can raise like a ruff. So any advice would be appreciated.

I was just Googling another breed and saw a picture of what could be yours, Bourbourg. They are like a Light Sussex which I love. Have a Google and see if you think they are the ones.

I french bob
I would say "Sussex" as the french call them.  I have 2 which I am pretty sure have been diluted somewhat.  I have a Sussex Co-Nu cross too - She has a slight black tail underneath, the black wings, but of course no black neck feathers - she is really sweet though!

Woohoo - remember though to let them rest for 24 hours (very tempting to just shove them under a broody but it really is best to wait), my other eggs should arrive tomorrow  :D- fancy a silver MF sabelpoot or two?
