how many times can a hen go broody
« on: July 04, 2011, 14:11 »
Hi

I have a lovely young lemon pyle brahma hen who is just gone 10 months of age and was broody acting and did sit up until day 18 then just walked off and left her eggs to a poor little pekin who we added the eggs to she was covering 11 and 10 hatched.

But anyway she is now acting broody again sitting in the nest boxes and mouthy when booted out and doing an egg call a loud bok bok off and on all day.

so is she broody or just being a brat of a hen?

she's broody again but I wouldn't risk it again this year (next year she may be better able to cope).  Looks like she needs a spell in a dog cage  ::)
