Title: maggots in peas

I have been harvesting my peas for a while now.  The last two lots have had small maggotty things in some of them.
What should I do ?
Shall I just get rid of what's left and wait for my later ones to be ready or what?

not an expert on gwo but  i think its the pea moth, i think it lays eggs in the flowers, im sure there is some spary you can use for it.
just spray the flower heads if i remember correctly.

I don't use sprays.  I garden organically.

Just as well, as once they are in there you can't really help it. Usually don't cause enormous damage here. Sow more than you think and compost is also of value. More common in summer peas, try earlier ones for a few seasons.

Much the same here - I think around 20% of the pods I pick have a maggot in , I chuck the pea with a hole in and eat the rest but its not exactly nice to split the pod and see the critter crawling about.

I might try covering the 3 rows I've got left with netting - would debris netting be fine enough ?

Only will work I suppose if the soil does have no cocoons in, by the book, but how would they get there if you rotate is beyond me. :shock:  :lol:

so my sense says it should work for next season, this one is done with, they are June/July, March/April sown peas, as far as I know still only one genration a year, sow now seems easiest.

I know, DD will notice this and be cross about mildew, sorry Dave, we can't win them all, I suppose. :wink:

To be honest I have to admit I sprayed. I used a pyrethin based spray.

I've harvested well over 50 lb of pea pods and come across just 4 holes.
