My pond
« on: May 19, 2011, 09:32 »
I have had a pond for about 8 years now, just come back from a break at the sea side and found that half my fish have gone.
Only small fish left, I had about 80 fish, last night my wife said she could hear the fish splashing about, in the morning the pond is empty.
There is no sign of parts of fish no water splashes, just no fish.
I can't make it out.
The fish was not anything special but some was getting to a good size, well about 8 inches.
I will restock but will wait for a couple of weeks as I will give the pond a good clean out.
Reg
I'm lost without my SatNav.

I suspect your pond has been visited by a heron; they will travel far and wide to find a good meal (seen one more than once in my garden which is why I keep my pond netted!)
Sow your seeds, plant your plants. What's the difference? A couple of weeks or more when answering possible queries!

One of the best things about being an orang-utan is the fact that you don't lose your good looks as you get older

And once they have found a good takeaway they tend to come back for another snack!

But if it was at night, I may suggest a larger predator, with a net.....

Is your pond easy to get too?
Very often quite lost- would be more lost if I could work out where I was!- But always find my way home.....

Or it could have been a snake. That's what took all my fish.

What sort of fish were they Caretaker?

Koi are extremely valuable, goldfish are not (still your pets/possessions though; herons can't tell the difference but of course some humans can.)
