One of those days, d'oh!
« on: October 25, 2022, 16:28 »
I blame my age (that's the go-to excuse for the next xxx years  8)  :tongue2: )

So, I was going into town to treat a friend to lunch for her birthday. Table booked, confirmed with friend by text, etc.

Got into town, went to the restaurant. But there was no booking in my name for today. I couldn't find my email confirmation. They searched their system a bit more and, lo and behold, I did have a reservation for next Tuesday instead ... !

Not to mind, they said, and switched my reservation to today. Seated me, gave me the menus etc. I sat back and waited for my friend. But also checked my texts and yes, somehow, I had given her next Tuesday's date too.  Oops. I had this week off but had got my calendar weeks confused. I rang my friend and she was already busy today, so couldn't rush down and join me anyway (entirely reasonably).

Somewhat red of face, I gathered my stuff, slunk back to reception, and explained - and switched my reservation backto next week

Unexpectedly free, I did some touristy stuff in town, then a bit of shopping at M&S, including some amaryllis. I was confident in calculating my ability to cycle home with them because of the wire basket at the back of my bike, which I could put my shopping in.

But when I got back to my bike, I realised that I'd taken the unusual decision before leaving home not to put the basket on the bike  ::)

So I had two loose amaryllis boxes, one cotton bag full of other shopping, and my handbag (which can go across my body). Plus a bike to cycle home on

Luckily there was a Pavers nearby, which was happy to sell me one of their deep cotton bags for the amaryllis so that I could somewhat cautiously cycle the 10 minutes home along quiet roads with three bags.

I'm not safe to be let out, clearly  :nowink:
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days all attack me at once...
