Title: Chicken Leg
Post by: wilson5 on October 11, 2009, 08:39
Can anyone help my light sussex has started standing on one leg,  she is not very happy at the moment because she is very noisy. Had a look at the leg she is  holding up it is not swollen or no obvious wounds.

Did you look under her foot to make sure there are no wounds or infections there ?

Has she jumped off of something and strained the leg ?

Yes have looked under foot, have just started leeting them out and about in garden over the past few days.  Wondered if she had stood on something, can they get stung by insects because me and my dogs were all stung by a wasp at the same time there is a lot around still?
Had another look today the leg feels warm and is slightly lighter in colour than the other.

To be honest all birds stand on one leg especially when resting .It shows there healthy and capable of doing it. You have nothing to worry about unless it struggles to walk.
